We face important choices every day. Our choices affect not only the course of this particular day, but also our future. At the beginning of a new calendar year, it's a great time for us to evaluate our choices. Am I choosing wisely? Am I choosing in such a way that will please God?
Long ago, God's people were taking possession of a piece of real estate that God had promised to them. One of their most dynamic leaders, a man named Joshua, stood before the people and reminded them of the importance of choosing wisely.
Here's what Joshua said to them, "Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua 24:14-15) (My emphasis)
In this new year of 2008, we face a dizzying array of choices. Marketers and advertisers will pummel us with more than 2,000+ enticements every day. They'll use newspapers, radio, television, direct mail, billboards--whatever it takes to get your attention and sell you the product.
Choose wisely today and everyday. Don't let the course of this world lead you down a path away from God and His priorities and His blessings for your life.
It's your choice, so choose to go God's way today.
Live the Red,
Mark
