The past five days have been incredible. I had the opportunity to be present at the beginning and the end of an amazing 87-hour journey through the entire Word of God--from Genesis to Revelation. We called it, "Filling God's House with God's Word." It was that a so, so much more.
More than three-hundred different people of all ages and backgrounds, each took their turn reading a few pages of the Biblical story. I'm confident that just about everyone came away from the experience with a renewed appreciation and respect for the Word of God.
There was one grand, overarching theme that kept resurfacing throughout the 87-hour reading of the Word. The theme? "For the Lord is good, His mercy endures forever!" (See Psalm 136:1-26)
Start this new day and this new week with this thought in mind. The Lord is good, and His mercy (steadfast love, lovingkindness) endures forever!
What a way to start the week! Make it a great one.
Live the Red,
Mark

I like the story that Pastor Joel from First Baptist Church in Charlottesville told one Christmas Eve, about a child who wanted to fill the church sanctuary for Christmas. The child first demonstrated how it could be done, by lighting a candle in the middle of the sanctuary. The light from that one candle could be seen throughout every darkened corner.
Public reading of the word in the new worship center reminded me of that story. As I entered the worship center from the far corner, I could hear the voice of the reader of the chapter and verse that were before me. Immediately I was reminded of the story from Pastor Joel, and now added to the story, that the spoken Word of God can fill the recesses of even the largest room.
