A Light Shining...

Flames, originally uploaded by Praying for Lions.

The people who walk in darkness
Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land,
The light will shine on them.
(Isaiah 9:2)

Christmas is a time for candlelight. The celebration of Christ's birth just wouldn't be the same without candles. In just a few short hours, our spiritual family at Ironbridge will be celebrating and enjoying our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight service! It will be an especially joyous time this year as our entire IBC family gathers together in one place at one time! The Lord has abundantly blessed us this year.

Down through the centuries, followers of Jesus have lighted the four candles of Advent on the four Sundays leading up to Christmas Day.

Candles wonderfully dramatize the reality of following Christ in a world darkened by sin and strife. Jesus said it best...

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the basket, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16)

May the light of Christ shine brightly in your life in these important days of witness and ministry. It's my prayer that you and the ones closest to you will experience the magnificent love of Jesus at Christmastime.

Merry Christmas!

Live the Red,

Mark
